Customs authorisations for CCS-Express remain valid

As a result of regular monitoring and final inspection by customs authorities, several customs authorisations of CCS-Express GmbH remain valid. This includes the status of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO).

In an extensive procedure, the Landshut Customs Authority examined the customs authorisations of CCS-Express GmbH. As part of the audit process, evidence had to be provided that customs regulations were being properly complied with, the accounting system was in order, the company was solvent, and certain safety standards were in place. It also checked that the relevant staff had the necessary training and could provide evidence of customs training. "After a month-long audit and an on-site inspection by customs officials, we successfully passed all the tests and now retain our customs authorisations," says a delighted Christian Berger, Quality & Compliance Manager at CCS-Express and responsible for the audit process.

The following customs authorisations held by CCS-Express GmbH continue to be valid:

  • Authorised Economic Operator
  • Customs Warehouse Type C
  • Authorised Consignee
  • Authorised Consignor
  • Temporary Storage
  • Authorisation of a Comprehensive Guarantee
  • Approval of a Comprehensive Guarantee with Reduction and/or Exemption

What is an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO)?

An Authorised Economic Operator is a company that is recognised by a country's customs authorities as being particularly trustworthy and secure in international trade. AEO status is an important part of the global customs security programme. It is designed to enhance the security of the international supply chain while facilitating the movement of goods across borders.

A company that obtains AEO status enjoys a number of benefits, including:

  • Simplified customs procedures: AEOs can benefit from faster and simpler customs clearance procedures, resulting in fewer delays when importing and exporting goods.
  • Fewer controls: AEOs are generally subject to fewer physical and documentary controls by customs authorities.
  • Prioritised handling: In the event of customs or security checks, AEOs are given preferential treatment to minimise delays.
  • Improved cooperation with customs authorities: AEOs often have a dedicated contact person at customs, facilitating communication and problem solving.

To become an AEO, a company must meet certain criteria and go through an extensive application process. The AEO status is mutually recognised, which means that an economic operator approved in one country can enjoy similar benefits in other countries.

"The AEO status proves the reliability and trustworthiness of CCS-Express as a customs broker. Our customers benefit from faster customs clearance and shorter transport times."
