CCS-Express is Revolutionising Customs Clearance
CCS inside · Blog
Since its founding over 35 years ago, customs clearance has been one of CCS-Express’s core competencies. Building on this expertise and many years of experience, CCS-Express has now automated the customs clearance process. Through the CCS Customer Portal, clients can enter the required shipment and invoice data themselves and upload documents, enabling customs clearance to be carried out without delays. Thanks to full integration with standard ERP systems like SAP and Oracle, it is now possible to process a higher volume of shipments in a shorter time and at a lower cost.
This saves importers both time and money, while making supply chains more efficient and affordable.
How Does Automated Customs Clearance Work?
Automated customs clearance enables customs processes to be carried out online 24/7. The place of customs clearance does not have to be the same as the location of the goods. As soon as the goods are dispatched, the necessary data is shared with the customs agent so that the declaration is ready upon arrival and clearance can take place immediately. A stable IT system and complete, digitally transmitted data are prerequisites for automated customs clearance. In addition, approved economic operators must demonstrate a high degree of reliability and a solid understanding of customs regulations.
Case Study: Automated Customs Clearance at Kingston
Kingston, a global manufacturer of storage media, imports thousands of memory cards into the EU every day. SD memory cards are typically flown into Leipzig by air freight. If the goods arrive at 2:00 am, they would have to wait at the airport until customs offices open at 8:00 am for manual processing. Only then could they be forwarded to their destination. However, automated customs clearance allows shipment data, item-level customs information and the customs invoice to be automatically received and processed. This means the goods can be transported to their final destination immediately upon arrival at the airport.
"CCS-Express can fully automate the entire customs clearance process. Thanks to in-house IT capabilities, CCS-Express can interface with various inventory management systems and handle a wide range of data and formats. This enables CCS-Express to adapt to its customers’ needs – not the other way around."
