Numerous courier services impose temporary surcharges on parcel shipments during the high-demand period of the year. CCS-Express has to pass these surcharges on to its customers. In this article, we provide an overview of the current peak season surcharges announced by the leading courier services.

UPS

UPS will impose a series of demand surcharges from September 9, 2024, valid until January 31, 2025.

The following existing fees will increase from September 9, 2024:

  • The Additional Handling Charge, Large Package Surcharge and Oversize Surcharge will increase by 10%. The existing demand surcharge for parcels that meet the oversize surcharge specifications will be increased.
  • All applicable surcharges for non-routine customs clearance for imports and exports will be increased by 5.1%.
    The presentation commission fee will be increased by 5% and the fee on the amount presented will increase by 0.5 p.p.
  • The surcharge for commercial invoices in paper form will be increased to EUR 9. Consignors will be charged a surcharge per consignment if only one commercial invoice is provided in paper form.

The following new surcharges will also be introduced as of September 9, 2024:

  • Until January 31, 2025, a demand surcharge will be levied for parcels that require additional handling and for large parcels.
  • For shipments from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Europe and India, there will no longer be a demand surcharge.
  • A capacity surcharge applies to all cross-border Express Freight, Express, Express Saver, Express Plus or Expedited shipments. This charge is subject to the Fuel Surcharge Rule and is calculated based on the billable weight of the shipment.
