CCS-Express supports gravel champion Jana Gigele on her way to the European and World Championships

CCS-Express GmbH will continue to support Tyrolean cyclist Jana Gigele, the reigning Austrian Gravel Champion, in 2025.

National championship title at the start

The gravel season began with a bang for the 28-year-old: she crowned herself Austrian gravel champion with 6th place in the international UCI Gravel Race at Lake Wörthersee. Crashes and mechanical issues prevented top results in the following races of the UCI World Gravel Series in Monaco and Poland.  But Gigele refused to be slowed down: at the prestigious La Monsterrato race in Italy, she fought her way forward with determination and was rewarded with a strong 7th place against international competition.

She also showcased her class on the road: at the Austrian National Road Championships, Gigele narrowly missed out on a top-ten finish, placing 11th. A season highlight followed at the Wels City Criterium, where she underlined her sprinting power by taking 2nd place. And at the renowned Ötztaler Radmarathon, the Tyrolean proved she can climb, too. On the challenging 227 km course with 5,500 meters of elevation gain, the AURUM athlete set a personal best time of 8:07:53.3 and finished 9th overall.

Full Focus on the Season Finale

To prepare in the best possible way, Gigele recently completed a nearly three-week altitude training camp in Utah, USA. Now the major highlights of the season await: the Gravel European Championships in Avezzano (Italy) and the Gravel World Championships in Bolero (Netherlands).

“The World Championships are my big goal. It's a huge privilege to be able to compete against the best riders in the world. After not being able to finish the World Championship race last year, I want to deliver this year and show what I'm capable of,” says the Tyrolean with fighting spirit.

Jana Gigele: From alpine ski racing to cycling

The 26-year-old Austrian Jana Gigele visited the skiing academy in Stams and competed as a professional alpine ski racer in FIS and European Cup races. At the age of 20, she had to give up alpine skiing due to an injury. A few years later she followed her second passion, cycling.

As a true all-rounder, Jana Gigele races on the road for the women’s Bundesliga squad Team Cookina Graz, taking on both national and international UCI competitions. Beyond the road, she has also embraced the fast-growing discipline of gravel racing – where she achieved her biggest cycling triumph so far, winning the Austrian national championship title.
